I have always loved paper ...
any kind of paper, its colors and textures. I collected it as a kid and always ventured into any stationery store that came across my path. Some were too pretty to ever write on. I have written letters and thank you notes for as long as I can remember {or as long as my parents have been reminding me!} Endless waking hours have been spent on creating stationery, holiday cards and my children’s birth announcements.
I was lucky to have spent ten years of my career as a Merchandiser at Levi Strauss & Co. in San Francisco. The arrival of my first baby made the travel and hours seem a lot longer. Unable to walk away from the creative work I loved, I began to search for more balance. Who would have thought a three year-old birthday party would make that happen. After designing and printing stationery as party favors for my daughter’s birthday, giggle ink was born.
Although email brings us the ability to stay in touch, it has taken the place of traditional letter writing. I look back at letters from my grandfather, with his beautiful handwriting on beautiful paper and hope to revive this lost art form. Besides, who doesn't love going to the mailbox to find a hand written letter?
